Donated prescription medication totals over $45 million retail value accessed for over 31,000 uninsured Virginians and these figures continue to rise exponentially with the growth and proven success of the program. Currently there are 109 medications available in 366 dosage strengths
treating a variety of acute and chronic illnesses such as asthma, diabetes, bipolar disorder, hypertension, osteoporosis, Parkinson’s disease and epilepsy (RxP Complete Medication List). We also offer a variety of over-the-counter medications for the eye and ear. Rx Partnership (RxP) is actively working with six major Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Companies that donate brand-name, bulk medications to RxP Affiliates for eligible uninsured patients:
GlaxoSmithKline
GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) joined in October 2004 as the first pharmaceutical company to donate bulk medications to uninsured Virginians through RxP Affiliate free clinics and community health centers. GSK provides vital medications for the treatment of diabetes, asthma and hypertension, among others.
Merck
Merck & Co. joined the program in June 2005. The second pharmaceutical company to join, Merck is providing a variety of medications to treat chronic conditions such as osteoporosis, hypertension and glaucoma.
Novartis
Novartis joined RxP in January 2006 providing many vital medications, including several to treat cardiovascular disease, a condition that continues to grow and affect millions of Americans.
Abbott
Abbott joined RxP in November 2006. Abbott provides a variety of much-needed medications to patients, including medications treating low blood potassium levels, seizure disorders and thyroid hormone replacement.
Alcon
Alcon joined RxP in May 2008.
They provide a comprehensive list of pharmaceuticals for the eye and ear.
AstraZeneca
AstraZeneca is the newest pharmaceutical partner to join RxP, bringing 15 new medications to the program to treat conditions such as high cholesterol, hypertension and asthma.
