Rx Partnership still needs your help to advocate for additional funding from the General Assembly to support medication access!
As we reported in February's RxP Mail, an additional $100,000 was included in the House Budget ($50,000 each year) to expand RxP services to the growing number of uninsured patients in need, but unfortunately this critical funding was not in the Senate Budget.
However, the Virginia General Assembly was unable to pass a budget during the regular 2026 session. A special session was called but the budget impasse remains.
The main point of disagreement has centered on whether or not the current sales tax exemption for data centers should be repealed. The Senate believes that it should while the House of Delegates and the Governor believe it should remain in place. It appears that an agreement has been reached on this issue but budget conferees have not met.
On April 22nd, the morning of the Reconvene Session, Speaker Scott stated that he doesn't believe that there will be a budget agreement until June.

Including this modest additional $50,000 investment for each year of the biennium would translate into an additional $7.5 million in medications reaching vulnerable Virginians every year.
I hope you will support including this high-impact funding in the final conference budget.
