Why Do I Need a “Self-Care” Wellness Box?

We at Rx Partnership (RxP) know this last year has been a challenging one. In addition to the common stressors of everyday life—work, bills, childcare, etc.—the COVID-19 Pandemic has brought a whole new level of fear, concern and fatigue into our lives. In fact, during the pandemic, about 4 in 10 U.S. adults have reported symptoms of anxiety or depressive disorder, up from 1 in 10 adults reporting these symptoms from January to June 20191.

To help highlight the importance of self-care, RxP created carefully curated Treat Yourself with Rx Partnership self-care wellness boxes to remind us how important it is to take a minute to reset, rejuvenate, and reinvest in our own well-being.  Self-care means taking care of yourself so you can relieve the pressures of everyday life and get back to a healthy point where productivity is again maximized2 & 3.

Engaging in a self-care routine has been clinically proven to reduce or eliminate anxiety and depression, reduce stress, improve concentration, minimize frustration and anger, increase happiness, improve energy, and more2!

  • TEA FORTÉ® ORGANIC WELLNESS TEA

Quality teas come packed with antioxidants and nutrients. Numerous studies have shown that the flavonoids in teas may boost your immune system, bring about mental alertness, lower cholesterol, fight off inflammation and even ward of cancer and heart disease4&5. While some brews provide more health advantages than others do, there is plenty of evidence that regularly drinking tea can have a lasting impact on your wellness4.

Tea Forté is steeped in over 35 countries and features handcrafted luxury tea blends with an unparalleled presentation. Tea Forté’s pyramid infuser is an elegant signature of the brand and is made without the use of any chemical additives, colorants or adhesives and does not contain gluten or GMOs. Each handcrafted infuser is designed to allow the whole leaf tea, herb, fruit and flower blend to luxuriantly unfurl into each deliciously aromatic cup22.

  • SWEET SOPHIA HONEY STICK

High-quality honey contains many important antioxidants, including organic acids and compounds like flavonoids7. Antioxidants have been linked to reduced risk of heart attacks, strokes and some types of cancer7. Eating honey may lead to modest reductions in blood pressure, improve cholesterol and lower triglycerides7. And it's delicious!

Sweet Sophia honey is local wildflower honey from Northern Virginia. Their honey is not pasteurized, so it retains all of the healthy properties that the bees meant to have in it8.

  • RXBAR® PROTEIN BARS

RXBAR® Protein Bars are whole food protein bars with clean ingredients that are gluten free, high-quality protein, and little to no added sugar.

“Not everyone has the time to make a balanced snack or breakfast. But we all strive to eat better in some way, shape, or form. Our real food protein snacks are for the workout class aficionado. For the on-the-goer. For the parent who just wants a healthy snack for their kid. [W]e try to make something for everyone to enjoy - no matter where they are on their wellness journey9.”

  • YANKEE CANDLE® SCENTED TEALIGHT

A candle's tranquil, ambient light and soothing, relaxing scent can be a powerful tool for our mental health.

The soft flicker and gentle glow of candlelight helps provide a warm and peaceful atmosphere to soothe the mind and induce calm. The next time you have a stressful day, light a candle, watch the flame and just breathe for a few minutes - even just 60 seconds can make a big difference14. The healing connection between scent and emotional well-being is well-documented. Scents send signals to our limbic system, which is the sector of the brain that controls memory and emotion12. According to several studies, aromas can elicit positive emotions, reduce stress, and improve mood13. Through our sense of smell, we have the power to shape our environment, and create a sense of well-being14.

A Passion for Fragrance® Season after season, from reliving favorite memories to setting a mood, we share your passion for fragrance. It’s what drives us to search the world for fresh inspiration in creating evocative, long-lasting scents that will help make your house feel like home23.

  • MINI-JOURNAL & PEN

  • COLORED PENCILS & COLORING PAGE

Coloring isn’t just for kids! Coloring has multiple health benefits including reducing stress & anxiety, as well as improving motor skills, vision, sleep and focus. Coloring can relax the amygdala or fear center of the brain, which induces the same state as meditation leading to mindfulness and quietness. Coloring is the perfect way to relax and unwind after a stressful day16 & 17.
